When you think of the 1960s, you think of the golden era of music with so many hits.

For those fortunate to be there, the Swinging Sixties was a magical time for popular music, a truly golden age that spun hit after hit.

One of the most memorable was The McCoys’ interpretation of Hang On Sloopy, which became a monster success, and is still hugely popular today and it was being there, loving that wonderful time and its songs, which led to four talented British musicians fostering their special memories, preserving them for live audiences to enjoy anew today, keeping alive the McCoys name, with Hang On Sloopy and Spencer Davis Keep on Running being just two examples of a superb repertoire from the Sixties.

Ian Michael - Lead Vocals

Ian Michael is musical director of McCoys uk, has tremendous experience across the music spectrum, having worked as keyboard player, musical director, vocalist, guitarist, band leader (resident holiday park band) and sound engineer and worked directly with luminaries such as Toni Iomi, Glenn Hughes, Su Pollard, Matthew Kelly, John Bishop, Mamma’s Boys (Cliff Richard’s backing vocalists), Sight N Sound, Blade, Rocket and Tears to name but a few.

In recent years Ian had toured as a solo performer for Air Tours and Thomson Holidays, and in a resident duo for Thomson Gold.

Martyn McCoy. Drums and vocals

Martyn McCoy, who started playing in 1965, is a powerhouse drummer who frequently works as a session player for groups such as The Cufflinks and Billy Fury Tribute. Previous bands include Hedgehoppers Anonymous, Why Not, and for the last 26 years, Martyn teamed full time with top midlands 60’s harmony band Krys.

Allen Austin. Bass Guitar

Allen started his career in 1965 with mod group “The Elite”.

Following that he had a successful recording career with the Wolverhampton based band “The Montanas”.

In 1977, he formed the very popular 60s band “KRYS” with great success on the club circuit for forty two years.

Allen also portrayed Billy in a” Billy Fury” tribute show.

Now once again playing alongside Martyn, who was also with the band KRYS for 27 years.

Andy Birkett Lead Guitar and Vocals

Andy gained his early live music experience with original bands most notably You Me & Him and SAD, both out of Nottingham. A big change in performance direction occurred in 1996 when he co-founded The Beatalls who were to become a top Beatles tribute act appearing on numerous occasions at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool as well as all around the UK and abroad as far as Buenos Aires and Singapore.

Andy has also performed as a lead guitarist and vocalist with UK bands The Kounterfeit Kinks and Spirit of the Sixties.
